Tompkins VIST presents YEA! with EITC Check On December 4, 2018, Tompkins VIST Bank presented the Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA!) with a check for $2,500. ETA Insurance Group Agents Named to Health Care MarketPlace Circle of Champions Two insurance agents from ETA Insurance Group, a Nesquehoning based business were recently rec- ognized as members of the 2019 Health Insurance Marketplace Circle of Champions. ETA’s owner and president, Joseph Pilla as well as the groups Insurance Sales Specialist, Ed Titus, earned this distinction by helping 20 or more consumers make plan selections and enroll in Marketplace cov- erage during the 2019 Open Enrollment period. The Marketplace is an online tool operated by the federal government that allows individuals to shop for health care and receive referrals to local agents for further assistance. Joseph Pilla stated, “Choosing an individual health insurance plan can be confusing and overwhelming. We regularly work with consumers who are looking to choose or change their health care plan and help them select the best coverage for their needs. It’s an honor to be recognized by the marketplace for this achievement.” During an annual Open Enrollment period, individuals without employer-based coverage and purchase their own health care can enroll in or make changes to an existing plan. Local agents specialize in health care are also available to assist with the plan selection and enrollment process. According to information provid- ed by the National Association of Health Underwriters, over 300,000 people enrolled in a plan on HealthCare. gov, the Marketplace’s official website, during the first three days of this year’s Open Enrollment period. in the program take the students step by step on how to make a business plan. The students meet with mentors, and advance to an investor panel where they pitch their product. At the end of the program in May, the public is invited to learn about the student’s business and to purchase products. STC Student Achieves 2 nd Place in Precision Machine Competition Aaron Tallman, a senior from the Williams Valley School District, was awarded 2nd place in a Regional Precision Machine Competition hosted by Carbon Career and Technical Institute (CCTI) on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Tallman, a Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) stu- dent, competed against students from six regional career and technical schools, including: Monroe Career & Technical Institute, Hazleton, Bethlehem, Schuylkill, Easton and CCTI. The competition’s purpose was to prepare students for the State Skills USA Competition. Judges for the competition included Bill Marks from TPEI Engineering and Kyle Ahner from BTM Machine. All of the participants received prizes that included gift cards and machining tools. Jason Walck, a junior from Carbon Career & Technical Institute earned 1st place in the competition and Aaron Tallman, a senior from Schuylkill Technology (and Williams Valley School District) earned 2nd place.
