Chamber 100th Anniversary - A Year Long Celebration

As the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce 100th Anniversary Year comes to an end, we reflect on a century of progression and cherish the time we dedicated to celebrate our accomplishments during this anniversary celebration. First, we want to thank all of the members of the three separate committees who oversaw the anniversary activities, volunteering three years of their time, to the culmination in 2018, taking the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce members on a walk down memory lane. Members of the History Committee pieced together local, state and national highlights from the past century that were showcased along the way. Their work resulted in ten “Decades of History” that were read at Chamber events each month, for members to appreciate the decade-to-decade progression of the chamber. Their research also led to the creation of decade boards, with event descriptions and pictures, displayed in unity at the Chamber 100th Anniversary Gala and in the Chamber office for the 2018 PACP Fall Conference and our 80 Pennsylvania guests, as well as the evening honoring our Past Chamber Presidents/ Chairs, 100-Year Members and past Executive Directors. Members of the 100th Anniversary Committee worked to oversee that the yearlong celebration was given the oversight, time and energy it deserved. Their leadership, planning and direction assured the successful execution of special events. A goal that was achieved was to commission an artistic rendition of the Chamber’s 100 years, which was brought to life by artist Missi Brenneman, with a pencil lithograph of our Chamber history commemorating the 100th Anniversary. The 100th Anniversary Gala Committee members worked tirelessly to ensure the 100th Anniversary Gala, attended by 260 guests, was nothing short of spectacular. Great food and fellowship, first class service by the Schuylkill Country Club staff, a tremendous photograph montage of our history presented on video screens, the 100th Anniversary video, and a tremendous live band assured a magical evening worthy of our first century celebration. In addition to these special recognitions, along the way the Chamber produced a special 100th Anniversary Community Guide edition, a Schuylkill-Opoly 100th Anniversary game rendition that sold out within a few days of arrival, celebrated our 100th Anniversary

Annual Luncheon with keynote speaker Pete Hegseth, FOX and Friends Weekend Co-Host, and hosted the Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals (PACP) Fall Conference at Mountain Valley with a record shattering conference attendance. The foundation of the Greater Pottsville Area Chamber of Commerce, and its transitioning to the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, has always been our outstanding members and their dedication to work together. Their collective leadership enhances our business and nonprofit members, and carries out our mission to “serving its members and affiliates with value-added programs and services, and improving the quality of life and economic vitality of our county.” The 100th year was the time to pause, with special events and recognitions, to thank all those who have helped the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce grow over the century to better serve our members. As we enter 2019, and a new century of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, we understand our great history, accomplishments and appreciate all our members and volunteers over the century, who have gotten us here. We look forward to the next century of development and transition in representing the interests of business and nonprofits, both individually and collectively, in order to create and expand a strong economy and quality of life. Please join the Chamber Board of Directors, Chamber committees and staff, as we embark on “Chamber 101,” a new century with new ideas and innovation, adjusting to an ever changing business world and finding new and enhanced ways of working on behalf of all of our outstanding members. Cheers to the next 100 years!
