Award Winners to be Honored at June Breakfast Meeting T he Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards program will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Schuylkill Country Club . The breakfast is being sponsored by Riverview Bank. The 2017 Award winners were an- nounced at the 99 th Annual Luncheon on May 4, 2017 Business Woman of the Year - Cynthia Mensch, Alvernia University - Schuylkill Center , is a successful and outstanding businesswoman. Her leadership is by example and, as a strong leader, she stands apart by making everyone around her feel important and heard. She inspires those she works with to want to do well for the greater good. She has the respect and devotion of her superiors and her staff. She has run a highly successful facility for the good of the university and the community, while balancing the demands of family and other community interests – and doing them all exceptionally well. The award is being sponsored by Walmart DC7030 . Business Man of the Year - Gary Hess , is a well-known face and name around Schuylkill County. He is a very humble man with big dreams for both his borough of Schuylkill Haven and Schuylkill County. He gives from the heart in both his business and community works – asking nothing in return. He served Schuylkill Haven as their Mayor and was instrumental in the development of The Walk In Art Center as well as exciting the local community to revitalize. His aspirations of a better life for all Schuylkill County residents led him to county politics and the office of

Schuylkill County Commissioner, where he again galvanized people of both parties and was instrumental in starting the Schuylkill County Youth Summit. The award is being sponsored by Boyer’s Food Markets, Inc. For-Profit Organization of the Year - Sapa Extrusions, Inc. , has shown its commitment to Schuylkill County and its workers by investing over $100 million in capital improvements over the past 5 years – along with adding 224 hourly and 20 salaried workers. In 2016, the company received the Ford Q1 Award from the Ford Motor Company for being a top automotive supplier for excellence in delivery, performance and quality. The company has 23 locations throughout North America, but the Cressona location is the largest extrusion facility in North America, shipping to the continental 48 states, Canada, Mexico and parts of Europe. The Cressona loca- tion has the most extrusion presses, the largest product capability, the largest workforce and is the most profitable location in North America. Non-Profit Organization of the Year - Na- tivity BVM High School , is comprised of a dedicated staff but – as importantly – a com- munity of volunteers who believe deeply in the organization, its values and its importance to the betterment of Schuylkill County. They are dedi- cated to meeting the needs of their students and enriching them through the formation of faith, outstanding academics, community service, social responsibility, cultural appreciation and athletic development.
